Lease a Bike as a pioneer for bicycle friendliness: Awarded the ‘Gold’ certificate
Since 2017, the German Cyclists' Federation (ADFC) has been awarding the coveted EU-wide “Bicycle-friendly employer” certificate. Now the company bike leasing provider Lease a Bike in Cloppenburg has received the highest award in ‘Gold’.
Sara Tsudome, Project Manager at the ADFC Federal Association, emphasises: ‘Lease a Bike supports employees who use bicycles for their commute to work with a variety of measures. This has numerous advantages: employers can score points in terms of company health, environmental and mobility management.’
What characterises bicycle-friendly employers?

Bicycle-friendly employers save resources and use finances wisely: Bicycle parking is cheaper and requires less space than car parking spaces.
Promoting health
Companies that encourage their employees to cycle benefit in many ways. Regular exercise has been proven to improve health and increase motivation. To promote cycling, teams can take part in campaigns such as ‘CITY CYCLING’.

It is essential that all bicycles can be parked safely, dry and, if possible, at ground level.

Changing facilities and showers are also rated positively. Companies are also recognised when they offer discounts for commuters by bike in addition to job tickets for public transport.

Employees who cycle to work have on average a third fewer sick days and a lower risk of infection.
